Social Reportage: Litter

Social Reportage: Litter image
Socially engaged photojournalist, Arleen Thaler will teach students how to create a photo story covering the subject of litter in Rochester, NY. This class will begin at the ground level (literally) documenting the human footprint of waste that ends up in our city parks, sidewalks and vacant lots. Students will not only immerse themselves in litter strewn neighborhoods to photograph the issue, but also collect, analyze and problem solve. Over the course of 12 sessions (including 6 field trips) students will learn the importance of creating a narrative, immersion with subjects, editing, sequencing, and presentation. Required: working knowledge of your SLR/DSLR, film or digital welcome. *Please note: the dates and times for the 6 field trips are TBD, you will discuss the schedule with the instructor during class time.
